All scheduled TWI training dates for CSWIP 3.1u, 3.2u and 3.4u — Kuala Lumpur and Middlesbrough. Updated April 2026.
Prep Before You Book — NDTPrep.com →The 3.1u practical exam must be completed in a dive tank. TWI operates only two venues globally: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Middlesbrough, UK. There is no other option for the full course with practical component.
If you fail a written paper, one retest is permitted within 12 months of your exam date. The theory retest can be arranged at an approved TWI exam centre in your region — you do not need to travel back to KL or Middlesbrough. Practical retests do require a return to a dive tank centre. Contact TWI Certification:
You must hold an in-date CSWIP 3.1u certificate before you can sit the 3.2u. You must also provide evidence of six hours of practical 3.2u technique experience prior to the exam — tank-based experience is accepted.
One theory retest is permitted within 12 months of your exam date. Arrangeable at an approved TWI exam centre near you — no need to return to KL or Middlesbrough for theory only. Practical retests require a return to a dive tank centre. Contact TWI Certification:
The 3.4u has no underwater practical component. The complete course — theory and practical — can be completed online via Zoom live sessions. The exam is then sat at a TWI approved centre near you. Note: a vision certificate (near visual acuity test) is required within 2 years of the exam — but no full diving medical is needed.

TWI does offer the 3.4u practical component as an online live course, but no fixed dates are published at this time. This is typically arranged on request or run when sufficient candidates are available. Contact TWI directly to enquire about upcoming practical online dates or to register your interest.
After completing the online course, the exam can be sat at a TWI approved centre near you. Confirmed regional options: TWI India — Chennai ( · +91 7395959068) and IQS International — South Africa, Cape Town & Gauteng (). Contact TWI Certification to confirm the approved centre nearest to you:
Middlesbrough requires an HSE AMED medical — issued by a UK Health & Safety Executive Approved Medical Examiner. Kuala Lumpur accepts IMCA / OGUK standard medicals. These are not the same. Confirm which standard your centre requires before you arrange anything.
A diving medical issued in South Africa by an OGUK/OEUK-approved doctor is accepted at KL but not at Middlesbrough. If you're travelling from South Africa to the UK course, you'll need a separate HSE AMED medical.
Indian diving medicals issued to IMCA & ONGC standard are accepted at KL but not at Middlesbrough. Indian divers heading to the UK will need an HSE AMED medical — arrange this before you travel.
The 3.4u requires a vision certificate — evidence of near visual acuity (N5 at 30cm in at least one eye), issued within the two years preceding your exam. A full diving medical / AMED certificate is not required. The health section of the application form is a self-declaration only.
Diving medicals are typically valid for 12 months. TWI will check on booking and again on day one. An expired medical means no diving — which means no practical exam. Don't arrive with an expired cert.
Medical requirements can vary by nationality and are subject to change. Always contact TWI directly via twitraining.com or call +44 (0)1223 899500 to confirm which standard they require for your course and location before arranging anything.
